The Boring but Important page

A lot of venues and especially stately homes and Council venues will ask for P.A.T and P.L.I certifcates. briefly what these mean....

P.A.T. = Protable Appliance Tested, which means it's been tested deemed safe by qualified tester for which I will have been issued a certificate. This means it's safe to use in a public place.

P.L.I = Public Liabillity Insurance, Which means if a light of mine was to fall of and hit someone (never has, brackets and safty wire) I have liabillty and i can be sued for los of earning etc.

Please make sure which ever DJ you use has these two certificates, as one usually works with the other. I have heard but not sure if true, of a case where a guest sued the client becasue they didn't book a DJ with these and the there was an accident.

At the end of they day, if you want a 'pub DJ' who only works for £100 by the time he's paid for his insurance, travel, hourly rate, fluids and bublbs, tax, mot, etc, is he realy gonna be bothered about these two little bits of paper? unlikely. And you don't want to find out after an incident that he hasn't got them.

All my equipment is either less than 12 months old or has been P.A.T. tested (Portable Appliance Tested). This helps keep the show up to date with the latest light and sound processing equipment and less likely to fail on the night.

I also try to visit the venue before the day so that I am not surprised if I have to carry the equipment up 3 flights of stairs and then not be ready in time.

I do take a deposit, and the remaing amount no later than 2 weeks prior to the event. All work is contracted and once I receive the deposit you will recive confirmation, giving you full peace of mind that will turn up when I say I will.
